Steven J Friedman
memorial scholarship
In October 2022, Centre Stage Theatre launched with its first production - Neil Simon's comedy - Jakes Women. In line with the company’s goal of supporting the local community, no admission fees were charged. Instead, the company gratefully accepted donations for their first scholarship- the Steven J. Friedman Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was developed in memory of Steven Friedman, husband of our founder, Harriet Friedman, to be presented to a Salem, NH High School senior pursuing a degree in theater arts.
On May 18, 2023, we presented the scholarship during the Scholarship & Book awards ceremony to Max Shanteler, who is now pursuing a degree in theatre arts at Plymouth State University. Congratulations to Max!

We look forward to continuing our mission of giving back to the community!
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales for our next show will be donated to
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

About
Centre Stage
Welcome to Centre Stage Theatre!

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality theatrical productions to Salem, NH and the surrounding communities. Our mission is to promote cultural enrichment and entertainment through the art of theater, while fostering a sense of community involvement and collaboration. Our talented and passionate team of directors, actors, and volunteers work tirelessly to bring a unique and diverse range of shows to the stage, including classic plays, musicals, and original works. We also provide opportunities for aspiring actors and theater enthusiasts to hone their skills and participate in our workshops and productions.

In alignment with our vision, we intend to donate a portion of all ticket sales to a local or nationally known charity. Additionally, we will provide audience members an opportunity to make an additional donation when purchasing tickets.

Our first donation was to the Steven J. Friedman, M.D. Memorial Scholarship Fund, granted to a Salem High School graduating senior who will study theatre arts in college. The scholarship is named for the husband of our founder, Harriet Friedman, and was developed to reflect their shared love of all things theater-related.
